I design from the materials up. Most of my ideas begin with fabric — what it can do, how it moves, what story it already tells. I enjoy the problem-solving side of construction and believe clothes should work hard and still bring joy.

For more than ten years, I learned by doing — altering, mending, and experimenting with garments to understand how fabrics work and how clothing is made. Studying for my B.F.A. at Stephens College added technical and conceptual skills to that foundation. Now I combine curiosity, hands-on knowledge, and formal training in both my personal brand, Nuu, and my commissioned work

I start by sketching ideas and testing silhouettes and proportions, either by hand or digitally. Next, I explore fabrics and materials to see how they behave, then create flats and line sheets to clarify construction details. Finally, I cut and sew prototypes, solving problems and making adjustments along the way. The process is hands-on, iterative, and full of testing — it’s how ideas grow into finished garments.
